Sukij's Update: September 21 - 22, 2008

On Sunday (Sep 21), we intended to arrange for a family service in the morning, but Sukij was too tired so we reverted to just praying for him. He was also too weak to take any visitors. Matt, his favorite nephew, got a chance to see him briefly. They chatted for about 2-3 minutes and took a few pictures. Then Matt left so that he might take some rests.

He woke up this morning and gained some strength. First thing he did, of course, was to read this every single post in this blog. So, please keep'em coming, it means a lot to him. He even complained that I didn't update his situation and posts photos quick enough. He told me that his friends are eagerly awaiting for the updates and photos.

I didn't have all the photos with me right now so please accept my sincere apologies. I will try to get them tonight. :)

He is still in great pain and need pain killers on a regular basis. He is also easily tired and depressed so please keep on praying for him.

Will keep you as up to dated as possible.

Love,
Chankit

UPDATE -- 09:46 PM (BKK LOCAL TIME):

I visited Sukij this evening and he was extremely calm and peaceful. All signs of stress and anxiety are gone. He started telling me his life's mission statement and reciting many stories about his friends in US.

One of his last wishes is to write stories and lessons that he has learned, but he said it might not be necessary now, since his friends have already written many great stories that he wanted to write in great details.

He told me to read not only the posts, but also the comments. Those memories are valuable to him and he was so surprised that you remember them.

Surprised that we remember him? Are you kidding? NOBODY and I mean NOBODY ever forgets Sukij. My Mom even remembers him and the last time they met was back in '91. LiveStrong Sukij.

Sukij,

Here are some additional things that you shared with / taught me:

Random Stuff
- Everybody needs to read Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends and Influence People" - tons of "golden nuggets" in there
- Always make time for play and never lose touch with your inner child.
- "Lagniappe" is a small gift given to a customer by a merchant at the time of a purchase. Sukij always encouraged me to give my best and then throw in a little extra - it is a great way to distinguish yourself amongst your competition.
- Buy a good camera and take lots of pictures.
- Treat yourself to a GREAT meal at a TOP restaurant, and savor the entire experience. Go ahead, take photos of the food!
- Live the life that you want to live - Carpe Diem! If you love the surf and the sand, then LIVE AT THE BEACH! Write down your goal and put all your energies behind achieving it. Take risks that enable your goals / dreams to become reality.

Pay it Forward, and It's Only Money
- Sukij taught me the proper way to pick up the tab on an expensive meal, a gift I have happily passed along.
- Sukij bought my plane tix to Thailand back in '99 when I could not afford it. This too, I paid forward to a buddy of mine. That buddy of mine called me 2 mos ago informing me of how he too passed it along as well.

Thanks Suki-yaki!

Thank you so much for keeping everyone posted on Sukij - I know everyone appreciates it. I also appreciate seeing the pictures.

When being with Sukij you realize that he is always thinking about the other people in the room and how he can help them define and reach their dreams... this is how I always remember him...

With many thanks - Jennifer Fajman
